The “Broletto” is found in the gracious piazza dei Mercanti located near piazza del Duomo.
The palace of regions was done in 1228 by Podesta Oldrado Grassi da tresseno.
The palace originally had forms of loges where was practiced injunctions and arbitrations. From this we can explain the name Broletto which derives from “Brolo” and in high medieval language indicates a garden encircled by trees where took place justice.
The broletto became the seat of the commune in 1233 but at the same time was the place where the fair of the so called “Oh bei, Oh bei”.
The palace of regions is constituted by a facade with two porticos at the ground floor and one big salon at the first floor which was originally decorated with frescos. Little remaining of these.
At the superior floor we find five windows with three lights and one niche with a opening representing Il podesta Oldrado hoarse riding.
