Brera is a characteristic district of Milan dominated by the beautiful Sforzesco palace and surrounded by hotel of pregio. Brera comes alive mainly at night due to its many bars and clubs frequented by Milanese, tourists and business people who find themselves at Milan for work or fairs.
On the cultural side Brera is mainly known for its famous gallery la Pinacoteca.
The Pinacoteca of Brera is located on the first floor of the Palace of Brera of which the name derives from the German language “braida” which means grassy.
The construction of the Brera palace started in the XVI century from Richini and by Piermarini in ‘700.
The three chief works in the Pinacoteca of Brera which calls hosts of a national and international level are: “Il Cristo Morto”, an art work of the fourth century done by Mantegne representing in a new way pity, “Lo Sposalizio della Vergine” done by Raffaello and La Pala di Federico da Montefeltro. It is possible to then admire other works: from the third and fourth century to the one’s from the seventh century from which we name the works of Tintoretto and Cataletto and the famous “bacio” of Hayes to the eighth century works done by romantic artists, to finish wih the collection of Jesi which holds the richest series of the ninth century.
